What is the internet subsidy benefit?

Without a functioning internet connection, almost nothing is possible these days – neither at the office nor at home.

Through the "Internet Benefit" program, your employer can grant you a subsidy of up to €50 towards your internet usage costs, based on your actual expenses.

How is that supposed to work?

It's that simple!

Once you've selected the Internet Allowance benefit in the :pxtra app, enter your actual costs and confirm that the information you've provided is correct. Then you can decide whether you want to be reimbursed in full or only use part of your budget for this benefit. Finally, you can activate the benefit.

.

Requirements

To be eligible for reimbursement of internet costs, you must first have an internet connection. To verify this, you must submit an internet bill.

If you are the account holder and your name is on the bill, you can receive a 100% reimbursement.

What internet costs can be claimed as expenses?

The following internet costs are accepted:

  • Wi-Fi
  • Internet dongles
  • GigaCube
  • Hotspot → If the internet is accessed via a hotspot, only 25% will be reimbursed. Sufficient data volume must also be available; minimum 50GB.

Which internet costs will be reimbursed?

Internet costs include the basic internet access fee as well as the cost of the necessary hardware. This includes, for example, the rental of the router, modem, GigaCube, or USB modem.

If other costs are listed on the bill, such as landline, TV, streaming services, or similar, these must be deducted.

If the amount is not itemized, you can check the provider's website to find out the cost of each individual service. This amount must then be subtracted from the internet bill.

If streaming services are not listed separately, you can research them with the provider.

If the internet connection includes both internet and landline service, 15% must be deducted for the landline connection.

What should be considered when uploading documents?

After activating the Internet Subsidy benefit, you will need to upload your invoice. The invoice must be uploaded once a year and approved by the :pxtra support team. The following points are important for approval:

1. We need a current invoice from your provider. Submitting a bank transfer receipt or email notification of the costs is not sufficient. This is because we need to see that the invoice is issued to you and also require a breakdown of the costs.

2. You must be the contract holder. If your spouse, partner, roommate, etc., is the contract holder, we cannot clearly assign the costs to you. To avoid any questions or doubts in the event of a tax audit, the invoice must actually be in your name.

If the invoice is issued to your spouse/partner or roommate, the costs can only be reimbursed proportionally. This would work as follows:

  • Spouse/Partner max. 50%
  • Shared households: Reduction by each party

The primary contract holder must submit a declaration stating that the costs will be shared proportionally and that each party will bear their share of the costs according to the agreed percentage. This declaration must be uploaded via the app along with the invoice.

3. If the invoice includes a landline connection, we will deduct 15% of the costs from the invoice for the telephone connection. Other components of the invoice, such as costs for TV or similar, will also be deducted. Only costs for the internet and router or similar can be reimbursed.

What happens after the document is uploaded?

Once you've uploaded your receipt, our support team will review and approve it. If any questions arise during the review process, we'll contact you directly via the app's chat function.

Once the receipt is approved, you only need to enter it into the app each month to confirm that the charges are still being applied. You won't need to upload a new receipt for another 12 months. If your charges change, you can update this information directly in the app. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our support team at any time: support@pxtra.de

When will I receive my refund for internet costs?

Since the internet allowance is a benefit that requires proof of use, reimbursement will be processed in the following month. This means that if you submit your proof of use in October, you will receive the reimbursement with your November payslip.
